Your mouth tells us what's going on with the rest of your body. And vice versa.

Head to toe wellness — top to bottom wellbeing.

To define it simply, Health-Focused Dentistry means bringing a holistic philosophy to the practice of dentistry. Health focused dentistry can also be referred to as “holistic dentistry”, biological dentistry, metal-free dentistry, toxic-free dentistry and “natural dentistry”, among many other descriptors. The crux is to enlist the body, mind and spirit to the care and maintenance of the mouth, which is the gateway to the whole body. In fact, we can determine a great deal about your overall health by examining your mouth. Once we've assessed your oral and general health, we utilize natural/alternative treatments and remedies—where possible—and tailor-made protocols to bring your whole body into healthy balance. The bottom line is this: when your mouth is healthy, you are healthy. And vice versa.

Just saying no to toxins.

The goal of health-focused dentistry is to harmonize a patient's dental wellness with his or her overall physical wellbeing through the use of non-toxic materials for dental work. We realize the impact that dental toxins and hidden dental infections can have on overall health and opt to remove these often unrecognized factors from the wellness equation in our practice.

Consider it dental cleansing.

When toxicity is identified as being present in the oral cavity, steps can be taken to rid the mouth of the toxin, and to help reestablish a state of wellness. Health-focused dentistry takes into consideration how the treatment of the oral cavity will affect the immune system and overall health of the individual. Detoxification and support from other medical practitioners and healing modalities may be utilized to insure a successful treatment outcome.

Treatment that's tailored to you.

Health focused-dentistry is not always conventional, but always strives to be individually biocompatible. Practices such as electro-dermal screening, nutritional and detoxification therapies, acupressure, and massage are all incorporated by each of our dentists in an effort to individualize the treatment recommendations. Dr. Evans, Dr. Nordin-Evans and Dr. Carney strive to educate patients to give each person the ability to make informed, educated decisions about all aspects of his or her dental care. Above all, health-focused dentistry emphasizes the need for prevention over intervention.

There will be a test.

First, do no harm. To ensure that our hard work and diligent protocols are able to be fully, effectively utilized by your body's own healing power, we offer electrodermal screening (EDS) to determine individual material compatibility. While all the materials we use at Groton Wellness — from cleaning products to dental rinses — are considered non-toxic, each patient has particular materials with which they are more, or less, compatible. EDS doesn't replace other patient evaluation methods, just adds to a greater understanding of what makes you you so we can keep you well.

Referrals are always welcome.
